BEPZA organizes it's first-ever 'Annual Financial Conference 2025'

DHAKA, July 08, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) today successfully concluded its first-ever 'Annual Financial Conference 2025'. 

Held at the BEPZA Executive Office from 7-8 July, the two-day event focused on BEPZA's financial management, challenges, achievements, innovative strategies, and future action plans, said a press release. 

The conference aimed to develop a strategic roadmap for transforming BEPZA into a more investment-friendly, financially sound, and dynamic organization.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman inaugurated the conference. 

A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance) of BEPZA, delivered the welcome address. On the first day of the conference, heads of accounts departments from BEPZA's eight EPZs and the BEPZA Economic Zone pointed out the practical challenges they face in financial operations at the field level. 

This was followed by a presentation on "BEPZA's Financial Capacity and Challenges" by Md. Tofazzal Hossain, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer of BEPZA, and a session on "Audit Objectives and Future Strategy" by Khandaker Tariqul Islam, Executive Director (Audit).
One of the key highlights of the conference was an insightful presentation by Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Chairman of Sonali Bank PLC and former Finance Secretary and Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh. 

He emphasized the importance of accountability and constitutional obligations in institutional financial management and public auditing for sustainable institutional growth.

On the second day, Member (Finance) presented on "BEPZA's Future Economic Roadmap and Strategic Investment Potential" outlining several strategies to strengthen BEPZA's long-term financial framework.

On that day, Md Abdur Rahman Khan, FCMA, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), spoke on "Tax-GDP Ratio and Investment Prospects in Bangladesh". 

He remarked, "An increased tax-to-GDP ratio will widen the scope for investment in the country." 

He also highlighted NBR's current initiatives to ease of doing business and expressed his willingness for future collaboration with BEPZA.

In his concluding remarks, the Executive Chairman of BEPZA said, "The key discussions and recommendations from this conference will play a vital role in strengthening BEPZA's policy and budget framework, and in building a modern, investment-friendly institutional environment."

Among others, Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion); Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Engineering); Executive Directors and Project Directors from various zones; and officials from the Executive Office and different departments of BEPZA actively participated in the conference.
