Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both the bourses-- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE)-- today plunged due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, slightly declined by 4.6 points or 0.1 percent (pc) to settle at 5,062 points as against 5,066 points in the previous trading session. 

Meanwhile, market turnover declined by 15.3 percent to Taka 5.6 billion as against Taka 6.7 billion in the previous session. 

On the sectoral front, Bank (14.9pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Textile (11.8pc) and Pharma (11.6pc) sectors. 

Sectors showed mixed results, out of which General Insurance (1.7pc), Ceramic (1.4pc) and Mutual Fund (1.4pc) exhibited the most positive returns while Jute (-1.3pc), Paper (-1.3pc) and Financial Institutions(-1.2pc) showed the most corrections on the bourse today.

Out of the 397 issues traded, 155 advanced, 163 declined and 79 remained unchanged.

The port city bourse also experienced a negative session today. The Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) advanced by 20.5 and 28.1 points, respectively.
