Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

DHAKA, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) - Country's both bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) 
and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today plunged due to mainly price fall 
in large-cap securities.

DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, slide by 54.9 points or 
1.1 percent to settle down at 5,061 points compared to 5,116 points in the 
previous session. 

Market liquidity continued to remain subdued as average turnover declined by 
4.8 percent (PC) to Taka 5.2 billion. 

On the sectoral front, Pharma (12.6pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, 
followed by Engineering (11.6pc) and Textile (10.5pc) sectors. 

All the sectors, except Jute (3.4pc), exhibited negative returns, out of 
which Life Insurance (3.6pc), Paper (3.0pc) and Ceramic (3.0pc) showed the 
most losses on the bourse today. 

Out of the 397 issues traded, 43 advanced, 297 declined and 57 remained 
unchanged.

The port city bourse, CSE, also experienced a bearish session today. The 
Selective Categories' Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) declined 
by 49.6 and 88.0 points, respectively.
