DHAKA, Nov 3, 2025 (BSS) – A female teacher of premier Dhaka University today filed a case under the country’s tough Cyber Security Act over dissemination of her “distorted photographs” along with vulgar comments on social media platforms.

Police said assistant Professor of the university’s public administration department and assistant proctor Shehreen Amin Bhuiyan Monami accused four individuals and “unknown others” accusing them of continued disseminating of her distorted and vulgar photographs and comments on social media.

They said Monami submitted screenshots of the vulgar Facebook posts and accounts as evidence saying repeated online misuse of her photos and the remarks exposed her to “severe mental distress”, prompting her to take legal action.

“We registered the case filed under Cyber Security Act. Police will now launch actions under the Cyber Security Act,” officer-in-charge of Shahbagh police station M Khalid Mansur said.

The four named in the complaint are journalist and activist Mujtaba Khandaker, writer and activist Mohiuddin Mohammad, Dhaka College student Nirab Hossain, and Ashfaq Hossain Ivan.

Several Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) office bearers accompanied Monami as she filed the case at the police station.
