DHAKA, Feb 19, 2026 (BSS) – The Jatiyatabadi Bankers' Association, Bangladesh (JBAB), an organization representing bankers of scheduled banks across the country, has extended its warmest congratulations to the newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the members of his newly formed cabinet.

The greetings follow the historic and landmark victory achieved in the 13th National Parliamentary Election 2026.

In a joint statement here today, JBAB Central Convener Md. Iqbal Hossain and Member Secretary Md. Mostafizur Rahman (Mostak) formally welcomed the new government, characterizing its formation as a direct reflection of the long-standing hopes and aspirations of the general public.

The leaders highlighted the profound significance of this political transition, noting that the new administration emerges following a 17-year-long struggle for the restoration of democratic processes.

They specifically pointed to the "July 24 Mass Uprising" as the definitive turning point that initiated a new journey for the nation.

The association emphasized that the bold leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has opened a new door of hope for the people of Bangladesh.

The JBAB leadership expressed their firm conviction that the new cabinet will remain steadfast in protecting the fundamental rights of the citizens and meeting the high expectations of the country.

Turning to the economic situation, the leaders provided a critical assessment of the challenges inherited from the previous fascist administration.

They stated that the previous regime left the banking and financial sectors—the backbone of the national economy—on the brink of destruction.

The statement cited widespread irregularities and chronic mismanagement as the primary causes of the current critical state of financial institutions.

In light of these challenges, JBAB expressed high expectations that the new government will take immediate and well-planned steps to eliminate mismanagement and restore discipline within the banking industry.

The association specifically demanded the administration of exemplary punishment for those who looted the banks, as well as their accomplices, to ensure future accountability.

On the vision for a modern state, the leaders praised Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s far-reaching and realistic thinking.

They described his leadership as providing youth-driven and vibrant guidance that will transform Bangladesh into a modern, technology-dependent, prosperous, and merit-based state.

By combining the spirit of Bangladeshi Nationalism and deep-rooted patriotism, the association believes the Prime Minister is poised to lead the nation toward becoming a self-respecting and happy country that can stand tall in the international community.

The Jatiyatabadi Bankers' Association, Bangladesh concluded its statement by offering prayers for the health, longevity, and continued success of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and all members of the new cabinet as they work toward building a prosperous and dignified nation.
