Objective journalism imperative for institutionalization of democracy

KHULNA, Jan 16, 2025 (BSS) - Speakers at a meeting here today unanimously
mentioned that objective journalism can be the crucial means of
institutionalization of democracy.

All concerned, particularly the journalists working in both print and
electronic media should come forward and work together to ensure objective
journalism.

Government officials, political and professional leaders and journalists made
the observation while addressing the 15th founding anniversary of the daily
Kaler Kantha at Khulna Press Club today.

Divisional Commissioner Firoj Sarker, Deputy Inspector General of Police of
Khulna Range Rezaul Haque, Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police
Zulfiker Ali Haider, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Muhammad Saiful Islam and
city unit convener of BNP Advocated Shafiqul Alam Mona addressed the meeting
with Kaler Kantho Bureau Chief HM Alauddin in the chair.

Local unit leaders of Bangladesh Jamaate Islami, Islami Andolan Bangladesh,
Jatiya Party, Shramik Dal, Jatiya Nagorik Committee and Nagorik Samaj and
journalists leaders also spoke on the occasion.

Terming yellow journalism as detrimental to national progress and prosperity
the speakers unequivocally called for forging social resistance against
yellow journalism for national interests.

Journalism should be freed from all sorts of misinformation, disinformation
and mal-information.
 
Divisional Commissioner Firoj Sarker opined that all the working journalists
should have proper knowledge and ideas about the media ethics before writing
reports on any specific issue.
