OSLO, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Nobel peace laureate Maria Corina Machado has arrived in Oslo, the head of the prize committee said, hours after the Venezuelan opposition leader's award was collected on her behalf by her daughter.

"I can confirm that Maria Corina Machado has arrived in Oslo and she is on her way here," Nobel committee chair Jorgen Watne Frydnes told reporters gathered at the Grand Hotel early Thursday. "She will go straight to meet her family."

Machado, who has not been seen in public for months following threats to her life, is expected to appear at a press conference in Oslo at 0915 GMT Thursday.
