DHAKA, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called upon all party leaders and activists to be united ahead of the upcoming parliamentary election.
"The upcoming election is not an Awami League election; it will be a completely neutral election. We must earn the people's love, win their hearts and bring them to the polling centers,” he said.
He added, “This is not the time to think about who did or did not receive a nomination; rather, the major responsibility now is to convey the message of the party and the leader to the public."
Fakhrul made the remarks at the inaugural ceremony at the fourth day of the BNP's 7-day programme titled 'Plan for Nation Building' at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) Convention Hall in the city.
He said, "We have an opportunity to create new leadership through the upcoming election. We will form a representative parliament with the people, which will lead the country toward a new direction. And its leadership will be held by our leader Tarique Rahman."
Reminding the party workers of their long history of struggle, he commented, "The struggle of the last 15 years make today's fight the most crucial and difficult. Vested interest groups are trying to pull this fight backward, so we must advance it with a united mindset."
He mentioned that the plan for the country's development and state-building proposed by Tarique Rahman is a unique example in Bangladeshi politics.
"BNP activists are being informed about what will be done before the election and what work will be carried out for the people, and this message must be conveyed to the people," he added.
Mentioning that BNP is a always 'forward-looking' party, Fakhrul said, "The multi-party democracy established by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, along with reforms such as the freedom of the press, the independence of the judiciary, and the creation of overseas labor markets, are the foundation of the country's progress. Similarly, Begum Khaleda Zia brought about multi-faceted reforms, including the modernization of the country's economy, women's empowerment, and the expansion of education."
The BNP Secretary General also mentioned that despite being abroad for the last 15-16 years, the party's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has remained with the activists, transforming the BNP into a strong political organization.
He stated that after 'Deshnetri' Begum Khaleda Zia was imprisoned, Tarique Rahman organized the party from afar with his own hands, provided guidance, and continuously communicated with the activists, giving them the message to keep moving forward.
Fakhrul expressed the hope that if Tarique Rahman's vision for a new state-building is communicated to the people, they will accept it. He said the time has come to realize the dreams of Shaheed Zia and Begum Khaleda Zia. Therefore, all differences must be set aside to move towards the goal to win this election.
