Abductor held, teenage victim rescued from Gazipur

RANGPUR, Jan 18, 2025 (BSS) – A joint team of RAB-13 and RAB-1 rescued a kidnapped teenage girl and arrested an abductor from Chandana Chowrasta Brick Field area in Bason police station of Gazipur district on Friday.

On a tip-off, an operational team of the Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-1 of RAB-13 from its Dinajpur camp jointly with the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-1 at Savar Camp conducted a raid in the aforesaid area, arrested the abductor and rescued the victim.
 
“The arrested abductor is Mintu Sheel, 35, son of Sheetanath Sheel, of Dakshin Nagar area under Kotwali police station in Dinajpur district town,” a press release said here last evening.
 
 Due to close relationship with the family, Mintu Sheel regularly visited the victim’s house in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur district. 
 
“He (Mintu) developed an affair with the victim girl, tempted her to get married and abducted her on September 8, 2024, when she went to the nearby Doshmile Bazaar area in the afternoon,” the release said.
 
An abduction case was filed with Kaharol police station in Dinajpur in this connection.
 
The arrested accused and the victim have been handed over to Kaharol police station of Dinajpur district for further action, the release added.
