Fire guts 9 shops in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 19, 2025 (BSS)- A total of nine different kinds of shops were
gutted in a fire that broke out in Sayed Ahmed Tek area of Khankhanabad Union
under Banshkhali upazila of the district early Sunday.

"The fire originated from a shop in the area around 1 am and quickly engulfed
the adjacent areas," said Md. Mizanur Rahman, officer of Banshkhali Fire
Service and Civil Defence Station.

Being informed, two firefighting units from Banskhali Fire Station rushed to
the spot and doused the blaze at around 2.30 am with the help of locals.
 
"The fire originated from an electrical short circuit," Mizanur Rahman
further said, adding that no human casualties or injuries have been reported.

Quoting the victims, the local fire service official claimed that the fire
damaged properties worth about Taka 25 lakh.
