BARGUNA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - Police during a drive arrested two members of an inter-district robber group, along with their ringleader from the Battala area under Amtali upazila of the district today. 

The arrestees were ringleader Shamsul Alam Chowkidar, son of Amjed Chowkidar of Nizampur village under Kolapara upazila, and his accomplice Eblach Hawladar, son of Abdul Mannan Hawladar of Amragachiya village under the same upazila. 

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at the Battala area and arrested them, Aminul Islam, Officer-in-charge (OC) of Amtali police station said. 

The group has been involved in robbery for a long time. Shamsul has a total of 10 robbery cases filed against him, while Eblach has six such cases with different police stations, including Amtali, the OC added. 

Police produced the arrestees before the Senior Judicial Magistrate's court at noon. Later, Judge Eibti Hasan Imran sent them to jail.
