No army in students’ union polls: ISPR

DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Army today has given a clarification about the news published in various mass media and social media on deployment of the army in the upcoming central students’ unions of different universities.

An ISPR press release said such a news on deployment of army has come to the notice of the army in recent time.

“The government has not given any instruction to the Bangladesh Army to perform duties in the upcoming central students’ union polls of the universities and there is no scope to be involved in any such duties in future,” ISPR said.

“Bangladesh Army believes that the upcoming Central Students’ Union elections will be held peacefully in a festive mood with the direct cooperation of the existing law enforcement agencies and the overall supervision of the respective university administrations,” it said.

Bangladesh Army conveyed good wishes to all involved with the Central Students Union polls.
