JASHORE, March 20, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a youth to life
term imprisonment for raping a girl in Abhaynagar upazila of the district in 2020.

The court also fined convict Shamim Hasan, son of Shahidul Islam of Basuari
Purbapara of the upazila, Taka 50,000.

Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Md. Golam
Kabir pronounced the verdict this afternoon.

According to prosecution story, on August 18, 2020 Shamim called his cousin to
his house, promising to give him a video song. At one point, he locked up the
girl and raped her in the house.  The girl after returning home told the matter to
her sister and father.

Her father filed a case against Shamim with Abhaynagar Police Station on the
same day.

Public prosecutor Abdul Latif Lata said the police filed the charge sheet in
November 2021.

Later, the judge after examining evidence found the convict guilty and handed
down the punishment.
