KHULNA, March 20, 2025 (BSS) – Police today arrested former panel mayor Advocate Memori Sufia Rahman Shunu from her residence in the Boyra area of the city.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Detective Branch of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), Taymur Hossain, said that police conducted a drive at Shunu’s residence and arrested her in connection with three cases, including one related to the vandalism of the Khalishpur unit BNP office.
Shunu, who also serves as the women's affairs secretary of the Khalishpur thana unit of Mohila Awami League (AL), will be produced before a Khulna court with a remand prayer, OC Taymur said.
Her husband, Faruk Ahmed, the organizing secretary of the city unit AL, is also an accused in the cases, the OC Taymur said, adding that he has been absconding since August 5 last year.
