Sherpur, Mar 21, 2025 (BSS) - A wild elephant was electrocuted in the Nalitabari border area early today after coming in contact with a live electric wire connected to a generator.

According to the Forest Department, a herd of around 20 elephants entered the locality in search of food. As they moved into a paddy field belonging to farmer Ziarul, one of the elephants accidentally came in contact with the wire and died on the spot.

Forest department officials later visited the scene, and police have arrested the owner of the paddy field. A case has been filed against him.
