JENAIDAH, March 21, 2025 (BSS) - India's Border Security Force (BSF) handed over two Bangladeshi nationals to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) following a flag meeting at Maheshpur border in the district this morning. 

BSF detained them when they were trying to enter Bangladesh illegally from India at 11pm on Wednesday night, according to a BGB official release issued by Saiful Islam, Assistant Director of Maheshpur 58 BGB Battalion. 

The two detained Bangladeshi nationals were identified as Liton Baidya, son of Nirod Baidya hailing from Kamlapur village of Rajoir upazila under Madaripur district and the other was a teenage girl hailing from Chadnisia village of Agailjhara upazila under Barishal district. 

Later, BSF arranged commander-level flag meeting with BGB at the border under Benipur border outpost (BoP) on Thursday morning. Following the meeting, the two were handed over this morning. 

Nayeb Subeder Md Ubaydullah, acting company commander of Benipur BoP under Maheshpur 58 BGB battalion, led the meeting on behalf of Bangladesh, while AC Himangsu Sharma, Putikhali camp company commander under 194 BSF battalion, represented BSF. 

The detained Bangladeshi man was handed over to Maheshpur police station, while the teenage girl was sent to the Justice and Care Center in Jashore.
