Jubo League activist Nayan arrested in Rangpur attempted murder case

RANGPUR, April 6, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Rangpur Metropolitan Jubo League activist Nayan Zaman Nayan, 32, from the city in connection with an attempted murder case during the anti-discrimination student movement. 

Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ataur Rahman confirmed the arrest to BSS this afternoon. 

Earlier, Nayan was arrested around 9pm from the Patbari area of Alamnagar under Ward No. 26 in Rangpur city on Saturday. Later, the police recovered a large quantity of country-made weapons from the area. 
 
"Nayan has been arrested in a case of attempted murder during the anti-discrimination student movement," the OC said, adding that he will be produced before a Rangpur court later today. 

Nayan, son of Nur Islam of Patbari area, had reportedly been on the run since August 5 to evade arrest.
