RAB arrests 2 over killing freedom fighter in Narail

JASHORE, April 7, 2025 (BSS)— The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of Akbar Hossain, a 75-year-old freedom fighter of Lohagara Upazila in Narail district.

The suspects, Zakaria Mollah, 55, and Saddam Hossain, 32, both residents of West Lahuria village in Lohagara, were apprehended in Jashore town.

Squadron Leader Md Rasel, the commanding officer of RAB-6's Jashore Company, disclosed the information to the media today. 

According to RAB sources, Akbar Hossain was brutally attacked by the arrested suspects and their associates near his home on March 31 around 3pm. 

Later, locals rescued the victim and rushed to the Mohammadpur Upazila Health Complex in Magura, where doctors on duty declared him dead.

Police sources said that the victim and the attackers had a longstanding family feud, as they were neighbors. 

Later, the wife of Akbar Hossain filed a murder case with Lohagara Thana in this connection.

RAB, in collaboration with local police, conducted an extensive investigation, leading to the arrest of the two suspects, said the company commander.

They were handed over to Lohagara Police for further proceedings. Investigation and operation are going on to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
