NOAKHALI, April 7, 2025(BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has taken all the responsibilities of the family of rape victims twin sisters of Char Gullakhali village under Kabirhat upazila of the district.

This was disclosed by the leaders of Noakhali district BNP at a press conference organized by ‘oppressed women and children legal assistance cell of BNP’ at Noakhali Bar Association auditorium today.

They will ensure social rehabilitation, security, legal and treatment facilities of the victims’ family following the instruction from their leader Tarique Rahman.  
  
Mahbub Alamgir Alo, convener of district BNP told the conference that BNP has come forward to this end as part of its social responsibilities. 

He said Tariqur Rahman has decided to stand beside the family of the rape victims considering the humanitarian issue. In this connection, he said the Nationalist Lawyers Association is ready to extend all sorts of legal assistance to the victim’s family.

Member Secretary of the district BNP Harunur Rashid Azad and other leaders were also present at the conference.

According to local sources, a boy aged about 16 years on March 25 last, took a six-year girl to an abandoned house at Char Gullakhali village and raped her. Before the incident, the girl was playing with her twin sister by the side of their house. Her father was taking rest in his house and mother was cocking food in the kitchen at that time. 

The other sister, hearing the hue and cry of her sister, called her mother and the mother later rescued the victim. Local people later came to know that the same boy also raped the other girl only two days before the second incident. On hearing the incidents of rape, local people became furious and caught the boy and handed over him to police on March 30. 

Police, later, arrested the boy under section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and sent him to a nearby correction centre.

On March 31, the mother of the girls, filed a case with Kabirhat police under Women and Children Repressions Act. 

Being informed the matter through media, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman instructed the Secretary General of the central Nationalist Lawyers Forum Kaiser Kamal to extend all out support including the legal help to the victims’ family.

Later, a seven-member team of the Noakhali District Nationalist Layers Forum visited the place of occurrence and assured of all out supports to the family.
