Preparatory meeting on Bangla New Year celebration held in Khulna

KHULNA, April 8, 2025 (BSS) - A preparation meeting to celebrate The Bangla New Year-1432 was held in the district today at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Saiful Islam presided over the meeting. 

As per the decisions made, the colourful procession (Mangal Shovajatra) will begin at 8:00am from the premises of the Khulna Railway Station on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh and will conclude at Shaheed Hadis Park. 

Besides, artists from local cultural institutions, including Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Khulna, will arrange discussion meeting and cultural function at the same venue. 

In observance of the day, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Khulna will host art and essay competition for the children and distribute prizes to the winners. 

Khulna divisional museum will open to the public on the day. Traditional foods will be served at the district jail and orphanages on Pahela Baishakh. 

The meeting also urged everyone to refrain from any activities during 'Mangal Shovajatra' which could hurt religious sentiment.  

Executive Officer of Khulna Zila Parishad Taslima Akter, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitan Kumar Mondal, Senior Assistant Commissioner of KMP Shihab Karim, Member Secretary of Khulna Press Club Rofiul Islam Tutul, among others, addressed the meeting.
