11 shops gutted in Chandpur

CHANDPUR, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - At least 11 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Bahobiya Bazar under Sadar upazila of the district in the early hours of today.

Deputy Assistant Director of Chandpur Fire Service and Civil Defence Syed Morshed Hossen said the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.

Locals said at least 11 shops were burnt down before firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze.

Senior Station Officer of Chandpur South Fire Station Md. Shamsul Alam stated that four units of firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control after one and a half hours of frantic efforts.

However, the extent of the damage is yet to be ascertained, he added.
