DHAKA, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS)- Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has urged the Muslim Ummah and the international community to take pragmatic steps to stop Israeli military aggression and genocide against Palestine, transforming moral commitments into concrete actions.
He made the call in his intervention at the Extraordinary Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, according to a message received here today.
“It is high time we took pragmatic steps and transform our legal and moral commitments into concrete actions to stop the Israeli military aggression and genocide against the people of Palestine,” Touhid said.
Referring to the recent indications of recognition of Palestinian statehood by a number of Western countries, the Adviser said “this could be the least to acknowledge the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the occupying forces of Israel.”
Reiterating Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their just struggle for self-determination and freedom, Touhid called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
He also urged for unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza and emphasized the need for a credible and irreversible path to a two-State solution based on the 1967 borders.
He further stressed Bangladesh’s readiness to extend “any unconditional support from the government and people of Bangladesh which might be tabled by OIC or the Muslim Ummah aimed at the emancipation of the brotherly people of Palestine.”
On the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting, Touhid held a meeting with the Foreign Minister of The Gambia when they discussed the current status of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) case against Myanmar regarding the Rohingyas.
They agreed to hold the next round of foreign office consultations in Dhaka at a mutually convenient time.
The Gambian Foreign Minister also informed that he plans to visit the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh soon.
Additional Foreign Secretary M Forhadul Islam and Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the OIC MJH Jabed accompanied the Adviser during the ministerial and sideline meetings.
