DB detains former Durgapur upazila chairman, along with 7 others

DHAKA, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police has detained former Durgapur upazila chairman of Netrokona district, Jannatul Ferdous Jhuma, along with seven other leaders and activists linked to the now-disbanded Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations, from various parts of the capital over the past 24 hours.

According to police sources, the arrests were made on charges of disrupting law and order by organizing sudden processions in different areas of Dhaka.

Confirming the arrests, Deputy Commissioner of DB (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said legal action is being taken against those responsible for attempting to create unrest in the city.
