BAGERHAT, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - Three activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were killed in a road accident in Rampal upazila here in the district while returning home after attending a party rally.

The tragic accident occurred on Tuesday evening on the Khulna-Mongla highway in the Belai Bridge area, according to official facebook page of BNP's Media Cell.

The deceased were identified as Jamir Ijaddar, 50, Mizan Bepari, 45, and Haripada Roy, 40 - all of them were activists of Rajnagar Union BNP under Rampal upazila.

Witnesses said the victims were returning home on a motorcycle after attending an election campaign meeting addressed by BNP Central Research Affairs Secretary Agriculturist Shamimur Rahman Shamim at Bhaga Balur Math in the afternoon.

When they reached the Baburbari area in the evening, a passenger bus coming from behind hit their motorcycle. Moments later, a truck following the bus ran them over, leaving all three dead on the spot.

The motorcycle was completely wrecked in the accident.

The incident cast a pall of grief among the victims' families and local BNP leaders and activists.

President of Rampal Upazila BNP Hafizur Rahman Tuhin said, "The three who lost their lives in the road accident were dedicated activists of our party. They met with the tragic accident on their way back from a party programme."

Hafizur also said we express our deepest sorrow and condolences to their bereaved families.
