Woman killed in truck-CNG collision in Tangail

TANGAIL, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - A woman was killed in a collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway in Kalihati upazila here in the district.

The accident occurred around 10:30 am today in front of Ichapur cemetery in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Khaleda Akhter, 39, wife of Salam Mia of Rajfair village under Kalihati upazila.

Police and local sources said a speeding CNG hit a stationary truck from behind, seriously injuring four passengers on board. The injured were taken to Tangail Sadar Hospital by locals, where the on-duty doctors declared Khaleda Akhter dead.

Sergeant Bahar Mia of Elenga Highway Police Station said the body will be handed over to the family after completion of legal procedures.
