Four get life term imprisonment in Jamalpur abduction case

JAMALPUR, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced four people to life term rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping a house wife in Melandah upazila of the district in 2022.

The court also fined them Taka 50,000 each, a court official said.

The convicted persons are Md Majnu Miah, 25, son of Munnaf and Md Jahurul Islam, 37, son of Md Imon Ali of Vanguni Danga village, Md Hanif Khandakar, 59, son of Hatem Ali Khandakar and Md Momin Miah, 40, son of Md Abul Kashem of Randhuni Gachha village in Melandah upazila of the district.

According to the prosecution, On February 9 in 2022, Majnu Miah with the help of others convicts abducted the housewife while she was going to her father's house at village Randhuni Gachha in Melandah upazila from husband's house at village Rashidpur in Sadar upazila. 

After the incident victim's father informed the police and the housewife was rescued from the house of Md Hanif Khandakar.

District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim after examining 4 witnesses and relevant documents found them guilty and handed down the verdict.
