Youth held with gold bars in Jashore

JASHORE, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a youth with gold bars worth Taka 55.26 lakh from Roytoka Bazar area in Sadar upazila here today. 

The arrested Osman Gani, 30, is the son of Syed Ali Mandal of Mollapara Barandipara area of the Sadar upazila.

Based on secret information, a BGB patrol team conducted a drive in Roytoka Bazar area of the Jashore-Narail highway around 7 am and arrested Osman Gani, said Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui, commander of BGB-49 Battalion, 
Jashore.

The team also recovered three gold bars weighing 319.48 grams after searching his body, he added. 

The BGB commander said that during initial interrogation, Osman Gani admitted that he collected the gold bars from the smugglers in Dhaka's Dholaipar area and was heading towards the Benapole Border to smuggle those to India. 

Later, a case was filed against Osman Gani and he was handed over to Jashore Kotwali Police Station, he added.
