Irish, EU Delegation meets IGP

DHAKA, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS)- A six-member delegation comprising representatives from Ireland and the European Union (EU) met with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday.

The team led by Baroness Nuala O’Loan, a member of the UK House of Lords and the first Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland, and Kevin Kelly, Ireland’s Ambassador to India, discuss potential collaboration with police in the areas of police reform and capacity-building, said a police press release.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed keen interest in sharing Ireland’s experience in police oversight and offering assistance to Bangladesh.

IGP Baharul Alam briefed the delegation on current reform measures of police and underscored the importance of enhancing mutual cooperation and professional exchanges to strengthen policing standards.

Senior officials of Bangladesh Police were present at the meeting.
