KHULNA, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Khulna district unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today formed a 61-member election steering committee to oversee upcoming election activities.

Md Moniruzzaman Montu, convener of the district BNP, was made the committee's convener, with several sub-committees also constituted.

The committee was formed at a joint workers' meeting held at the Khulna BNP office to plan election strategies for the party's candidates in the district's four constituencies.

The meeting was presided over by Md Moniruzzaman Montu, while acting member secretary and BNP candidate for Khulna-6 constituency S.M. Monirul Hasan Bappy conducted the proceedings.

Addressing the meeting as chief guest, BNP central executive committee information affairs secretary and party candidate for Khulna-4 constituency Azizul Bari Helal said the party had re-emerged as a strong political force despite conspiracies against it.

"After years of struggle and sacrifice, BNP has become a mature political force and remains the only shield for the country's independence and sovereignty," he said, urging activists to stay vigilant against unseen forces.

Helal added that all party members must prepare for the "battle of ballots" and stressed the importance of winning all four Khulna constituencies to ensure the formation of a people's government under Tarique Rahman's leadership.

He also called on the present government to hold the national election on schedule.

The meeting urged party leaders and activists to ensure the success of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day programs on November 7 and 8.

Among others, Zia Foundation director (program) Amirul Islam Kagji, district BNP joint conveners Khan Zulfikar Ali Julu, Molla Khairul Islam, Tayebur Rahman, S.M. Shamim Kabir, Gazi Tafsir Ahmed, G.M. Kamruzzaman Tuku, Enamul Haque Sajal, and Asit Kumar Saha spoke at the meeting.
