Brick kiln fined Tk 1 lakh for illegal soil extraction in Dumuria

KHULNA, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court in Dumuria upazila of the district 
today fined a brick kiln owner Taka one lakh for illegally extracting soil 
from a river.

The operation was conducted around 12 noon near the Shailgatia Bridge area 
under Rudaghara Union by Dumuria Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Amit 
Kumar Biswas.

During the drive, an illegally constructed structure on government land was 
also demolished.

Dumuria Brick Kiln Owners' Association President Md. Shahjahan Jamadar, Brick 
Kiln Owner Md. Azizur Rahman, Nazir of the Upazila Land Office Kiran Bala and 
Police Personnel from Dumuria Police Station were present, among others, 
during the drive.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Amit Kumar Biswas said several illegal brick 
kilns are operating in different parts of Dumuria upazila, and drives are 
being conducted to evict those. 

"Such operations are carried out almost every year, but many of these kilns 
resume their activities soon after. This time, strict monitoring has been put 
in place to ensure compliance," he added.
