CHANDPUR, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - Two Rohingya women were detained from the Chandpur regional passport office on Tuesday after they were found carrying fake documents while attempting to obtain new passports.

The passport office officials handed the women over to the local police after discovering forged documents, including national identity cards (NID).

The detainees were identified as Suraiya, 18, daughter of Sahisu Alam of Camp No-2, E-11 block, Kutupalang, Cox's Bazar, and Zuhura Begum, 35, daughter of Sona Ali.

Officer-in-Charge of Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station, M. Bahar Mia, said that as both women are legally residing in the camp, they were sent back to their camp under police escort for legal action by the camp authorities.

During primary interrogation, the women admitted that they were attempting to obtain Bangladeshi passports to travel to Saudi Arabia.
