Sailor goes missing after falling from ship in Karnaphuli river

CHATTOGRAM, April 20, 2025 (BSS)-  Dulal Mia, a sailor went  missing after slipping from a fishing vessel in city’s Karnaphuli River last night. 

The Navy Police, Fire Service and Coast Guard are jointly carrying out the rescue operation. 
However, the sailor could not be found till this afternoon. 

 Sadarghat Naval police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ekram Ullah confirmed the matter and said   Dulal Mia inadvertently slipped between two vessels and fell into the Karnaphuli river around 10 pm on Saturday while boarding the FV Partex-1 vessel in the city's Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) Jetty number 1. 

 The missing Dulal Mia is the son of Abdur Rab of Char Jabbar police station under Noakhali district. 

He was working on the fishing vessel FV Partex-1.  OC Ekram Ullah said fire service divers; coast guard and Sadarghat Naval police   went to the spot and carried out rescue operation. 

The rescue operations are on, the sources said.
