5 held with Yaba, phensedyl in Rangpur, Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 in separate drives arrested five presumed drug traffickers with contraband Yaba tablets and phensedyl from different places in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts on Monday.
 
"The seized drugs included 390 pieces of Yaba tablets and 235 bottles of smuggled phensedyl," said two separate press releases issued here today.
 
On a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-13 arrested a man with 390 pieces of Yaba tablets from Uttam Baniyapara village under Metropolitan Hajirhat Police Station in Rangpur metropolis at 1:10 pm.
 
The detainee was identified as Abdur Rahim alias Jhantu, 35, of village Narsingh under Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district.
 
In two other separate raids, a team of RAB-13 from its Sadar Company nabbed a man with 92 bottles of phensedyl from village Sebokdas at around 10:00 am and other three persons with 143 bottles of phensedyl from village Khalisha under Kaliganj upazila in Lalmonirhat district around at 11:00 am on yesterday.
 
The apprehended persons were identified as Anonta Kumar Roy alias Babu, 50, of village Sebokdas and Al Amin, 19, and Zahedul Islam, 34, of village Tentulia and Saidul, 40, of village Khalisha Barajan under Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat district.
 
The elite forces have handed over the arrested persons to the respective police stations with the seized drugs in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat for further legal action.
