JOYPURHAT, May 2, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two drug traders and seized 90 tapentadol tablets in Helkunda here.

The arrestees are identified as Ratan Chandra Mali, 42, and Russell Hossain, 24.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-5 from the Joypurhat camp conducted a raid on Thursday night and arrested the duo with the drugs from the Bara Helkunda area while they were selling those drugs, according to sources at RAB.

Officer-in-Charge of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Md Nur E Alam Siqque said the arrestees, during preliminary interrogation, confessed that they had been involved in drug trading for a long time.

A case was filed against the arrestees with Joypurhat Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.

They were sent to jail after being produced before a court.
