Motorcyclist killed in Patuakhali road accident

PATUAKHALI, May 2, 2025 (BSS) – A motorcyclist was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a Mahindra vehicle at the West Rajapara Bishkani area on Kalapara-Patuakhali road in the district today.

The deceased is identified as Ruhul Amin, 50, a resident of Champapur village in the district.

The injured were Mahindra passengers Tania Begum, 45, Idris Mridha, 45, Al-Amin, 35 and Dulal Akon, 38.

The accident occurred at around 10:30 am today. The deceased Ruhul Amin's home is in Champapur village.

Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Jewel Islam said that the passenger vehicle Mahindra was coming from Amtoli to Patuakhali.

At that time, a speeding motorcycle from the opposite direction tried to enter the highway and collided with the Mahindra, he added.

As a result, both vehicles skidded off and fell into a road-side ditch leaving all injured, he said.

Locals immediately took the injured to Kalapara Hospital where the duty-doctor referred critically injured Ruhul Amin to Barishal Medical College Hospital, OC said.

Ruhul Amin died on the way to Barishal, he added.

OC said that necessary legal action was taken in this incident.
