HABIGANJ, May 3, 2025 (BSS) – Paddy procurement drive was inaugurated in Baniachong upazila of the district today.

Secretary of the Food Ministry Md. Masudul Hasan inaugurated the drive at a view-exchange meeting with the farmers at Subidpur village of the upazila as the chief guest.

Madudul Hasan said paddy will be purchased from the actual farmers. Monitoring will be done through the District Administration to prevent syndicates. 

“We want farmers to sell their hard-earned crops to the government at a fair price. No syndicate will be tolerated. Action will be taken against violation of law,” he said.

Baniachang Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmuda Begum Sathi presided over the program.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Md. Faridur Rahman, Sylhet Division Regional Food Controller SM Saiful Islam and Habiganj Agricultural Extension Department Deputy Director Md. Aktaruzzaman were present at the function as special guests.
