AL leader arrested in Rangpur attempt to murder case

RANGPUR, May 22, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested Awami League (AL) leader 
Nesar Ahmed in an attempt to murder case filed following the anti-
discrimination student movement. 
 
Police arrested him from in front of Carmichael Collegiate School and College 
in the city around 10:45 am on Thursday.  

Tajhat Metropolitan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shah Alam Sardar 
confirmed the matter to BSS tonight. 
 
Nesar Ahmed is the Rangpur Metropolitan Ward 28 Awami League president. 
 
The OC said that an attempted to murder case was filed at Tajhat Metropolitan 
Police Station following the anti-discrimination student-public movement on 
October 24 last year. 
 
Nesar Ahmed is one of the accused in the case. 

"When the police produced Nesar Ahmed to the Rangpur court, the judge ordered 
him to be sent to jail in the afternoon."
