Missing fisherman's body recovered in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, May 24, 2025 (BSS) - The body of a fisherman who went missing in the Jamuna River was recovered today in Dewanganj Upazila of Jamalpur district.

The deceased was identified as Suman Das Sunil, 22, son of Shree Suren Babu of Majhipara village in Dewanganj upazila.

According to police sources, Sunil went fishing in the Jamuna River by boat on May 19. As heavy rain began, he attempted to return to shore. However, a portion of the riverbank collapsed onto his boat and he went missing.

Despite efforts by fire service divers, the body could not be located immediately.

Local residents spotted the body floating in the river this morningand informed the police, who then recovered it.
