BSF pushes 19 people into Bangladesh through Meherpur Border

MEHERPUR, May 25, 2025 (BSS) – The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have pushed 19 people including women and children into Bangladesh through Meherpur border this morning.

They were pushed into Bangladesh through Sonapur-Majpara border under Mujibnagar uapzila of Meherpur district in the early hours today, police said.
Receiving information, members of police from Mujibnagar police station detained them from Kedarganj Bazar area inside the Bangladesh border and took them to the police station.

The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) of Mujibnagar camp also were present at the spot. Of the detainees, five each are male and female and nine were children.
The arrestees are: Momena Khatun and his three son Mozammel Huq, 23, Mostaq Ahmed, 19, and Kabil, 11, Mainul Islam and his wife Kanchan Begum and their three sons-Karan, 14, Rabul, 7, and Mariyam, 4, Nitai Chandra Pal, his wife Geeta Rani Pal and their three daughters Parbati Pal, 15, Puja Rani Pal, 7 and Aroti Pal, 3, Aminul Islam his wife Parul Khatun and their two daughter Amena, 4, and Arfina, 11month old.

The arrestees were living in the Indian state of Hariyana. The Indian law enforcement agencies arrested them from various places inside India and kept them at Bahrampur jail of Murshidabad district under West Bengal state before six to seven days ago.
 “The arrestees were stationed at BRTC counter at Kedarganj Bazar. Based on secret information police arrested them and brought them to the police station,” said Officer-In-Charge (OC) Mizanur Rahman of Mujibnagar police station.

After interrogation, necessary legal action will be taken against them, he added.
