Two held with counterfeit notes in Khulna

KHULNA, May 25, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested two individuals with counterfeit currency worth Taka 1.78 lakh from the Koiya Bazar area in Khulna on Saturday. 

The arrestees were identified as Nur Islam, 76, a resident of Dhipur village under Gosairhat upazila of Shariatpur district, and Harunur Rashid alias Harun Kabiraj, 50, of Baliakandi village under Muladi upazila of Barisal.

Acting on a tip-off, a special team from Harintana Police Station set up a check post at Koiya Bazar and detained the duo with counterfeit notes worth Taka 1.78 lakh, said a press release issued by the Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Headquarters today.

A case has been filed against the detainees under the Special Powers Act with Harintana Police Station in this connection.
