NARSINGDI, July 19, 2025 (BSS) - Nearly 100 people donated blood voluntarily in Narsingdi today in memory of the martyrs of the historic July uprising in 2024.

The blood donation campaign was organized by the Narsingdi district administration in association with Quantum Foundation at the Chhatra Sangsad Bhaban of Narsingdi Government College here.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Rashed Hossain Chowdhury inaugurated the campaign at 11:00 am as the chief guest.

Superintendent of Police Abdul Hannan, Civil Surgeon Dr. Syed Amirul Haque Shamim, Vice-Principal of Narsingdi Government College Professor Md. Khadim Hossain, and student coordinator Sohan Haidar, among others, were present.

From 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, around 100 people — including students and senior citizens — voluntarily donated blood.

Expressing his feelings, donor Mahfuz, a student of Narsingdi Government College said, "I have donated blood 26 times so far. In Narsingdi, one person has donated blood 100 times and another 85 times. I hope to surpass them. A single unit of blood can save a life…There is no greater reward. I aim to donate more than 100 times and encourage others to do the same.”

He added, “Regular blood donation does not harm the body".

Another donor, Omar Faruk, said, "I have donated blood 10 times. If one unit of my blood can save a life, nothing else matters. That’s why I regularly donate and urge others to do the same."
