Fair-priced rice and flour sales begin in Naogaon

NAOGAON, July 21, 2025 (BSS) - The Food Department today launched the sale of rice and flour in the open market under the government's food-friendly programme in the district.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Awal inaugurated the programme at Taj Mor in the district town this morning.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin, Acting Assistant District Food Controller Aminul Kabir, Upazila Food Officer Golam Maula, and other officials were present at the inaugural event.

According to the District Food Controller Office, rice will be sold at Taka 30 per kg and flour at Taka 24 per kg in the open market under the programme.

Each person will be allowed to purchase up to 5 kg of rice and 5 kg of flour. A total of 9 metric tons of rice and flour will be sold daily at 12 designated points in the municipal area through 12 appointed dealers.

Deputy Commissioner Abdul Awal said the programme has been introduced to provide relief to low-income consumers. 

He also warned that strict action will be taken against any dealer found involved in irregularities or corruption.
