GAIBANDHA, July 28, 2025 (BSS) - A young man drowned in the river of Brahmaputra, at Khatiamari point under Fazlupur union of Fulchhari upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The victim is identified as Al-Amin, 22, Son of Fazal Miah of Khatiamari village under Fulchhari upazila of the district. 

Local sources said Al-Amin went to the point in the afternoon to take a bath in the river with his friends. 

During the bath, he sank into the water of the river. When he did not resurface even after a long time, the locals and his friends started searching for him. Then his body was recovered from the downstream of the river. 

Panel chairman of the union Parishad Muktar Hossain confirmed the incident.
