CHATTOGRAM, July 29, 2025 (BSS)-Authorities at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram today seized 190 cartons of Platinum brand cigarettes and 920 boxes of banned Pakistani Dew cream worth around Taka 10 lakh.

The items were recovered from the baggage of two passengers who arrived in the country on US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-350 from Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.

Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, public relations officer of the airport, told BSS that the passengers-Nur Nabi of Chagalnaiya upazila in Feni and Md Mizanur Rahman of Hathazari upazila in Chattogram-attempted to pass through the green channel without declaring the products after collecting their luggage from the baggage belt.

Acting on a tip-off, members of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) intercepted them around 7:10am and recovered the undeclared items after searching their belongings.

The estimated market value of the seized goods is around Taka 10 lakh, according to airport sources.

As it was their first offense, the authorities confiscated the items and released the passengers upon completion of legal formalities, Khalil added.
