Twenty-four women boxers move to finals in nat’l boxing

DHAKA, July 29, 2025 (BSS)- Twenty-four boxers have secured their places in the finals from the women’s section across various weight categories of the National Boxing Championship after eliminating their respective rivals in the women's semifinals events held at the Muhammad Ali Boxing Stadium in the capital today (Tuesday).

In the 48kg weight class, Jannatul Ferdous of the Bangladesh Army defeated Papri from Abul Mahmudha Boxing, while Ansar’s Tanzila outclassed Salma Akter of Gopalganj. 

The 50kg weight category saw Army’s Kayma Khatun triumph over Jannatul Ferdous of United Barishal Boxing Club and Ansar’s Rahima outclassed Bithi Akter Noor of Khilgaon Pragati Sangha.

The much-anticipated 52kg bouts featured New York based Bangladeshi boxer Zinnat Ferdous, representing Narsingdi’s Goodwill Club, defeating Army’s Asiya Khatun while Ansar’s Afra Khandaker overpowered Sejuti Islam of Turjo of Boxing Club.

In the 54kg weight category, Army’s Seema defeated Akhi Akter of the Police team and Sadia of Gora Moutri Sangha. 

The 57kg clashes saw Ansar’s Shamima Akter defeating Police’s Tanzina Naurin, while Army’s Brishti Khatun outclassed Rabeya Khatun of Jessore.

The 60kg category saw Ansar’s Saki Akter overpower Jessore’s Shilpi Khatun and Army’s Naushin Tasnim beat Shoshila Murmu of Amzad Ali Boxing Club.

In the men's division, Army’s Anik Hawlader secured a win in the 48kg category against Mehedi Hasan Mim of Goodwill Boxing Club. Ansar’s Limon beat Sarwar Jahan of Rajshahi.

In the 51kg weight class, Russell Kabir of Rajshahi overpowered Dhaka’s Shawon Imroz while Army’s Ariful Islam beat Shafiqul Islam of Rajshahi.

Ansar’s Utsab Ahmed dominated the 54kg bout against Monir Hossain of Heroes Sporting Club, and Army’s Rakib Hossain registered victory over Abdur Rahim of Jessore.

In the 57kg category, Army’s Ruhin Reza beat Hossain Ali of Khilgaon Pragati Sangha to reach the final.
