KHULNA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - BNP chairperson's advisory council member Zahir Uddin Swapon has said that no conspiracy will be able to obstruct the upcoming national election scheduled for February.

Speaking as the chief guest at a workers' rally in the Fulbari Gate area of the city on Saturday afternoon, he said that attempts to delay or derail the election will not succeed.

Khanjahan Ali Thana unit of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal organized the rally, in support of BNP-nominated candidate for Khulna-3 constituency Rokibul Islam Bokul.

Swapon said that the election system in the country had turned into a "mockery" over the last 17 years. Students and youths, along with the people, have brought an end to that authoritarian rule.

He said the present interim government was formed "through sacrifice and struggle." Its moral strength comes from the support of BNP and other democratic political forces.

Thanking the Chief Adviser, Swapon said the Chief Adviser had reassured the nation that the election would be held in February, which, he said, helped dispel public concerns.

He also warned that those who "oppose or create obstacles to the election process" would be treated as "enemies of democracy as well as the country", urging all concerned to refrain from conspiracies.

Speaking as the key speaker, Rokibul Islam Bokul criticized the previous government, alleging that closed jute mills in Khulna reflected its "mismanagement and corruption."

He claimed that assets were illegally transferred abroad after shutting down the local industries.

Bokul further warned that any conspiracy over the election would lead to serious consequences, saying that those who previously held elections without public mandate had to flee under pressure.

Kazi Shahidul Islam, president of Khanjahan Ali Thana Sramik Dal, chaired the meeting while General Secretary Ziadul Islam conducted it.

Khulna city unit BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona, General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, and other local BNP leaders were also present.
