
KHULNA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Khulna University (KU) Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim said emphasis must be given on language proficiency and technical skill development for those aspiring to go abroad.
He made the remarks while addressing a view-exchange meeting titled "Safe Migration to Saudi Arabia and Higher Education Opportunities in Japan" held on Saturday afternoon at Journalist Liakat Ali Auditorium of Khulna University.
The event was jointly organised by Khulna District Administration and Khulna Technical Training Centre (TTC).
Speaking as the chief guest, the VC said population should not be considered a burden; rather, it must be transformed into human resources to ensure national progress.
He pointed out that despite being a densely populated country, Bangladesh is performing better than many other nations in several areas.
He added that the contribution of expatriates is highly significant to strengthening the national economy.
Addressing teachers of schools, colleges and madrasas, he said educators play a vital role in shaping society and the nation.
He urged them to provide proper guidance on language training, acquiring technical skills and preparation for overseas employment.
Highlighting the KU facilities, he said that a Modern Language Centre exists in the University for foreign language learning, which is being upgraded into an institute.
Completing it will offer language-learning opportunities not only for KU students but also for learners from outside the campus.
He also praised the ongoing initiatives of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) to ensure language education and safe migration, expressing his appreciation.
BMET Additional Director General (Joint Secretary) Md Ashraf Hossain attended the event as a special guest and elaborated on essential aspects of technical skills, foreign language requirements and safe migration procedures for overseas aspirants.
Khulna TTC Principal Md Ziaur Rahman delivered the welcome speech, highlighting different training courses, capacity-building activities and the institution's ongoing journey. The event was moderated by Umme Habiba Islam, Instructor (Computer) of Khulna TTC.
