Tax documents of ex-minister Tipu Munshi, 6 others seized

DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of tax documents of seven influential individuals linked to the former Awami League government, including former commerce minister Tipu Munshi, in connection with graft allegations.
 
The other people, whose tax documents have been ordered to be seized, are former state minister for foreign affairs Md Shahriar Alam, former state minister for disaster management and relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman, former Cumilla-11 lawmaker Md Mazibul Hoque, former Pabna-5 lawmaker Golam Faruk Khandakar Prince, retired judge of the Appellate Division Justice AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik and Tipu Munshi's wife Irin Malbika Munshi.
 
Judge Shihabul Islam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed orders allowing the separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
 
The anti-graft body, in its pleas, said it has already filed cases over graft charges against the accused and needs to go through their tax documents for the sake of proper investigation. So, their tax documents till fiscal 2024-25 need to be seized, it added.
