DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed in the Dhaka, Faridpur, Gopalganj and Madaripur districts to strengthen security measures and maintain law and order.

The paramilitary force confirmed the deployment in a short message sent by its Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam, stating that the BGB personnel have started patrolling in Dhaka, Faridpur, Gopalganj and Madaripur districts.

The Home Ministry has taken the decision to deploy the BGB as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety ahead of the International Crimes Tribunal-1’s expected announcement of the verdict in a case of crimes against humanity against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Kamal.

Earlier on November 12, a total of 12 platoons were positioned at various strategic points across the Dhaka metropolitan area, while two additional platoons were stationed in the Narayanganj and Gazipur City Corporation areas.

The deployment came amid heightened security measures in and around key government offices, court premises and major intersections of the capital.

Law enforcement officials said patrols have been intensified and surveillance stepped up to prevent any untoward incident.

Senior officials of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and several district administrations confirmed that coordination meetings were held earlier in the day to review the overall security situation and allocate forces accordingly.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement personnel, assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure safety and normalcy in public life.
