PATUAKHALI, Aug 1, 2025 (BSS) - A seven-year-old child drowned in a pond at Kalaiya Union's Ward No. 2 under Bauphal upazila of the district today.
The deceased was identified as Md Rafsan, son of Md Sumon of the area.
Family members said Rafsan had been playing in the yard before he went missing. After an extensive search, he was found floating in a nearby pond.
He was immediately rescued and taken to Shaheda Gafur General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Atiqul Islam confirmed the incident, saying, "We have received information about the child's drowning death and an investigation is currently underway."
